Information Architecture
Creating structure from chaos.
Information architecture (IA), as it pertains to web site and web-based application design, is the process of developing the structure, flow and relationships for all of the content/elements of the product. It generally includes developing a detailed site map, user flow diagrams and wireframe schematics of key page types. It also includes developing a navigation structure and messaging architecture where appropriate.
During the Architect phase of most projects we focus on both Information Architecture (structuring the content) and Interaction Design (modeling the user interactions).
